New principal and assistant principal assignments for 2020-2021
(PULASKI COUNTY, Ark.) – In an effort to maintain our goals of equity and excellence at Pulaski County Special School District, the District will make a few changes in school administrations for the 2020-2021 school year.
Dr. Charles McNulty, PCSSD superintendent, along with a team from central office, determined the following reassignments for schools:
Mary Carolyn Bailey will be leaving Joe T. Robinson High School to support PCSSD students across the district. Taking her place at the high school will be Dr. Jason Pickering. Dr. Pickering comes to Robinson from Pinnacle View Middle School (Little Rock School District) where he served as principal for two years. Prior to that he was principal at Bryant High School (Bryant School District).
Masako Christian will take over as principal at Daisy Bates Elementary. Mrs. Christian had been filling in as interim assistant principal at the elementary school for much of the 2019-2020 school year. Current Daisy Bates principal, Lou Jackson, is retiring at the end of her contract in June.
Finally, there are two assistant principal changes in the Maumelle feeder. Kelly DeVun will be moving from Maumelle Middle School to Pine Forest Elementary as assistant principal. Likewise, Karen Townsend will move from Pine Forest to Maumelle Middle.
“We look forward to the changes in leadership as we continue to promote equity and excellence within each of these schools,” says Dr. McNulty. “We’re excited about the invigorated direction for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year.”
In addition to administrative staff changes at the school level, we have several employees from central office staff who are retiring this year. We wish the following employees the best of luck in future endeavors and hopes for a fulfilled retirement.
