The superintendent's cabinet wore African clothing and bright colors earlier this week to kick off Black History Month. Several cabinet members wore traditional kente designs which represent their own unique, symbolic value.

Faye Clarke co-founded Educate the Children Foundation to support rural school districts with book donations & more. $20 million+ in supplies have been donated. She was inducted into the Arkansas Black Hall of Fame in 2002.

Samuel Lee Kountz Jr., M.D. was a physician and pioneer in organ transplantation. He performed the first kidney transplant on patients who were not identical twins. He was inducted into the Arkansas Black Hall of Fame in 1997.

The Arkansas Down Syndrome Association (ADSA) received a donation from Briggs Equipment to provide sensory masks for more than 100 of our students across the district. Valentine’s Day Card Contest
Design a card which can be given to our RMS teachers/staff/administrators! The creators of the top three cards will receive a $25 gift card to the store of their choice!
TO ENTER:
Pick up a card kit in the media center anytime beginning February 2nd.*
Create your card and return to the media center by February 9th.**
Winners announced on February 12th.
*Virtual students: To make your card, cut a letter-size piece of cardstock in half, then fold it. Each entry must be returned in a Ziploc bag, with the student’s name written on a piece of paper inside.
**Enter as many times as you wish. (A student can only
win one prize, however). After judging, all cards will be distributed to RMS teachers, staff, and administrators.

To celebrate growth on Winter NWEA MAP tests, RMS Super Goal Tailgate will be held Friday, February 5, 2020 beginning at 12:30 pm. Each grade level will have a tailgate event in the parking lot and other locations where there is abundant space to maintain social distancing and adhere to CDC guidelines. Each grade level will also participate in special advisory activities. RMS Super Goal Tailgate is free to all students. However, students need to bring money for the concession stand, photo booth, and other special tailgate activities.
