Robinson High School's Art Foundation Classes have been studying the Era and Art of the Harlem Renaissance. They created oil pastel African masks in the style of the great Lois Maillou Jones, they read the literary works of prolific writer Langston Hughes, and each student chose one of his poems to illustrate using the medium of their choice. Students also created chalk cityscapes similar to the ones illustrated in Faith Ringgold's book, Tar Beach. Early finishers created paper mosaics in the style of Alma Woodsey Thomas. While working, they listened to several musicians' performances from the historic Apollo Theater.
